Hobnob News Report:
In a dramatic diplomatic development, U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday announced that India and Pakistan have agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire, following intense military clashes that saw jet fighter, missile, drone, and artillery exchanges between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.
The announcement, shared via Trump’s Truth Social account, came after what he described as a “long night of talks” mediated by the United States.
“After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE,” Trump posted, commending both nations for “using Common Sense and Great Intelligence.”
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed the breakthrough, crediting extensive negotiations involving himself and Vice President J.D. Vance with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and other senior officials.
“The Governments of India and Pakistan have agreed to an immediate ceasefire and to initiate talks on a broad set of issues at a neutral location,” Rubio wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
“We commend Prime Ministers Modi and Sharif on their wisdom, prudence, and statesmanship in choosing the path of peace.”
The ceasefire comes on the heels of a sharp escalation after Pakistan retaliated to overnight strikes on three of its air bases, pushing tensions between the historic rivals to alarming levels.
While Pakistan’s foreign ministry has officially confirmed the ceasefire agreement, India has yet to issue a public statement.
The world now watches closely as both countries prepare to engage in diplomatic talks aimed at long-term regional stability. Stay with Hobnob News for ongoing coverage of this developing story.
