Moses Jituboh, the former Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has died at the age of 54. A reliable source informed Hobnob News on Friday night that Jituboh passed away following a brief illness.
“Yes, your information is correct. I can confirm that he (Moses Jituboh) is dead. I just got off the phone with a community chief. Efforts are currently ongoing to carry out an autopsy to ascertain the cause of death,” the source disclosed.
Jituboh served as Jonathan’s ADC during his tenure as Governor of Bayelsa State and continued in the role when Jonathan became Vice President. He remained a key member of Jonathan’s security team during his presidency.
After Jonathan’s loss in the 2015 presidential election, Jituboh returned to his police duties. At one point, he was considered for the position of Inspector General of Police but did not secure the appointment.
Tributes Pour In
The Zone 16 Police Command has expressed its condolences to the Jituboh family and the people of Bayelsa State over the loss of the former Deputy Inspector-General of Police.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Zonal Public Relations Officer, Emonena Gunn, conveyed the sentiments of AIG Zone 16, Adebola Hamzat, saying, “The Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 16, expresses condolences to the immediate family and the good people of Bayelsa State over the death of Bayelsa-born DIG Moses Ambakina Jituboh, mni.”
Jituboh was described as a committed and exemplary officer. “He was enlisted into the Police Force on June 10, 1994, as a cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police,” the statement read.
A Career of Distinction
Before retiring in 2023, Jituboh served as the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Department of Research and Planning. He also held the position of DIG for the Department of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) at the Force Headquarters.
The statement highlighted his dedication and integrity, noting, “His contributions to the Nigeria Police Force, dedication to service, and integrity can never be forgotten. His passing is a great loss not only to his immediate family but to Bayelsa State, the Nigeria Police Force, and the nation at large.”
A Nation Mourns
The police command expressed its hope that the family would find the strength to cope with the irreplaceable loss. “On behalf of the entire officers and men of the Zone 16 Command, please accept the heartfelt condolences of the Assistant Inspector General of Police,” the statement concluded.
Jituboh’s passing marks the end of a distinguished career in service to the nation. His contributions to law enforcement and national security will be remembered by many.
