Pastor Ayorinde AdeBello of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has broken his silence, denying allegations of homosexuality and sodomy involving male teenagers.
His suspension, alongside Deacon Oke Mayowa, pending investigation, was confirmed by RCCG National Overseer Pastor Sunday Akande in a memo dated October 28, 2024.
AdeBello clarified on Instagram that his initial silence was misinterpreted as guilt. He emphasized:
“I have never sodomized or had sex with any male teenager before.”
“I have never demanded sex from any male as payment or gratification in order to give them assistance, platforms or positions.”
The allegations stem from a blog post and a WhatsApp group screenshot, which AdeBello explained was taken out of context. The conversation was about male reproductive health and self-esteem.
AdeBello expressed disappointment at the misrepresentation, stating:
“Many who do not know me have used the opportunity to attack me, even when investigations have not indicted me.”
He assured that the accusations are baseless, with anonymity being the accusers’ primary tool.
AdeBello concluded:
“Now I have clearly explained the screenshot WhatsApp message, which is the only ‘evidence’ presented. I categorically affirm that I am innocent of the allegations against me.”
The RCCG’s investigation is ongoing.
