FG Approves Construction Of Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway

The Lagos-Port Harcourt-Calabar Coastal Superhighway construction has received approval from the Federal Executive Council, led by President Bola Tinubu.

The project which was assigned to Messrs Hitech Construction Africa, had the initial 47-kilometer phase scheduled to start in Lagos.

The massive project was mooted to enhance national connectivity and incorporate rail lines for improved transportation flexibility.

Minister of works, David Umahi, while highlighting the project’s integration with major routes, such as the Badagry Expressway, Fourth Mainland Bridge, and Lekki Deep Seaport Road, said it would foster economic development and tourism.

The construction of the super highway will make use of local 11-inch-thick concrete pavements reinforced with 20-millimeter steel to stimulate Nigeria’s bitumen, cement, and steel industries, notably Ajaokuta Steel Company.
